Why We Started Dallas Drafts

Howdy and welcome to the Draft Blog! For our first blog post, we thought it only fitting to introduce ourselves and why we started this adventure to bring a better bartending service to DFW.

We are Alex & Sari, co-owners and founders of Dallas Drafts. When we got engaged in early 2019 and began to plan our wedding, we knew we wanted something beautiful, unique, and affordable when it came to our wedding bar. We started to look at what was available in the area, there were a ton of options, but none that fitted exactly what we were looking for.

After conducting an exhaustive search for a bartending service that could meet our needs, we found that our options fell into one of these 4 categories:

Completely DIY- Plan everything, do everything, and take on a lot of work and liability. Ugh!
Partial DIY & Cheap- Plan and do most, but pay a few people to stand behind a table and open cans of beer for your guests. Doesn’t look great but at least saves money and removes the liability of the total DIY.
Deluxe bartending- Pay a company a huge amount of money per guest to provide everything. Total bill for our wedding would have been several thousand dollars. Yikes!
A trailer- Although these can be very cute, we didn’t really want a giant trailer or van and our venue didn’t have a good place for one. Plus with the unpredictable Texas weather, we didn’t want to leave the chance that our guests would be trekking out into the rain or cold for their drink.

Being a woodworker and having experience in hospitality, we set out to forge a better bar for our wedding that would be beautiful, serve delicious drinks, and not break the bank. When we started to show our family and friends what we created, it became clear we were on to something. As more of our friends started to get married and interest grew, we knew we had to share this with the world. And thus Dallas Drafts was born.

We now make it our mission to serve incredible drinks out of beautiful bars, make each and every guest smile, and make the bride and groom or event planner’s job as easy as possible.
